Here's a nice chill track from the one and only Sean Garrett. The original version of 'Feel Love' features Drake, but this brand new version with Roc Nation's own up-and-coming rapper J. Cole is pretty ill.
It's about time. Here's the first official single of the upcoming album, Lasers, by one of the most underrated artists out there today: Lupe Fiasco. After fighting against his record company over contract and album release date issues, 'Lasers' is officially set to be released on March 8, 2011. This may very well be one of the most highly anticipated albums today because of all the problems surrounding it. Anyways, after 2 ridiculous albums, all we can do is wait for more sick material from Lupe.
Here's a real nice track from CeeLo Green. Cee-Lo's the other half of Gnarls Barkley and is actually an established singer who's set to release his third solo work in the near future. There's just something about his voice that makes this song so grand, so be sure to check it out!
Mo Bottles (REMIX) - DJ Webstar feat. Maino, Styles P. & Sheek Louch
Here's a remix to Webstar's banger 'Mo Bottles'. It's got The LOX's Styles P. and Sheek Louch as well as my man Maino holding it down with short crisp verses. Some of you might remember Webstar for his hit 'Chicken Noodle Soup' from a couple years back, and this one's yet another hot track from him.
Here's the long awaited short film for Kanye's 'Runaway' to flavor up your Sunday. It features Selita Ebanks as the 'Phoenix' and Nikki Minaj as the narrator. Man, Kanye really does define creativity and crazy. He's at another level. It's a new style, new genre.
Here's the new album from America's sweetheart Taylor Swift. Another album full of melodious songs, Taylor does not disappoint. I think it's safe to say this'll take over the top spot on the Billboard 200. Enjoy!
In yet another creative collabo, pop duo Nikki & Rich and Brooklyn's own Fabolous come together to create a happy upbeat song. Loso's sick verses and Nikki's sweeping voice add the perfect touch to the sick beat by Rich. Enjoy!!
The Peas are back after their monster hit album 'The E.N.D.' as frontman will.i.am released the first single off their upcoming album, 'The Beginning' (coincidentally the same name as the new JYJ album) today. It's the same Peas we heard in 'The E.N.D.' as they still have a pop/electro/dancehall feel that'll definitely be heard on the dance floor. This one's sure to be a winner on the charts, so yeah, get ready to hear this over and over everywhere.
Speaking of winners, a quick shoutout to the Girls Varsity Volleyball team for their big win tonight. What a way to close out the season. COUGARS LETS GOOOO!!!!
JYJ - The Beginning
Here's a shocking fact for ya: "The Beginning" by JYJ (formerly TVXQ/東方神起) is so far the best selling album of 2010 (according to Warner Music)....and it still hasn't been released yet!! "The Beginning" has sold over 520,000 copies just through pre-orders.......yepp. So is JYJ the next big thing even in the US?? Will they eclipse Justin Bieber? Will boy bands start to sweep the nation like *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys did a decade ago?? We'll have to wait and see.
Anyways, here's the much hyped English debut album from JYJ...and it's real nice. We posted the 'Ayyy Girl' track with Kanye a few days ago and I know alot of you liked that. JYJ's also worked with underground Korean-American rapper Flowsick from Queens, NY who lays down a real sick verse on the track 'I Love You'. This album officially makes these guys trilingual...which is pretty impressive.
I strongly urge those who'd consider this 'lame' in a second, to give it a listen. Go out and listen to music that you never have before. You never know what's going to please your ears. If you're a true fan of JYJ I advise you go out and support them by buying this album....but if you can't wait, BAY AREA TRACKS HAS GOT YOUR BACK!!!
Hailing from the OTHER Bay Area (San Francisco, CA) is rapper Ya Boy. One of my personal favorites, Ya Boy brings us yet another sick party that's a straight banger. Although not known to a mainstream audience, Ya Boy's a rapper who creates great material on a constant basis. He's only released one album, but has released a mixtape on a yearly basis. If you dig this one, make sure to go check out 'Party Girls' and 'We Run LA' by Ya Boy as well!!
Say what you want about Flo Rida, but this dude knows how to make hits. 'Low' and 'Right Round' blew up like crazy and was heard just about everywhere. Rida's seemed to take on a more pop/electro genre now as there aren't any verses on this one. Nonetheless, here's a catchy track from Flo Rida that leaked a couple days ago and should get some recognition very soon!!
Here's a real nice track that came out a few days ago from 'The King of the South' and Chris Breezy. T.I. gets remorseful on this one because as some of you may know, T.I. was just sentenced to 11 months in prison for drug charges on October 15th. T.I. had just finished serving close to a year in prison, but it looks like he just can't stay on the right track. One of the most talented and swagger stacked rappers in our day, it's disappointing to see such a star run into trouble...twice.
'Tik Tok' swept all nations last year as Ke$ha's joined the likes of fellow female pop singers like Katy Perry and Rihanna. Although not the most musically talented, Ke$ha's way of singing/talking/rapping appealed to a large audience which lead to her success. Here's a new track from her that should delight any Ke$ha fans out there. Enjoy!
Um, how sick can Kanye (and TVXQ) get?? He's now done a track with JYJ (Jejung/Yunchun/Junsu), a new group consisting of 3 members of Korean supergroup Tohoshinki/TVXQ. TVXQ is currently on hiatus after a falling out between the group's members over a conflict involving their record label. Even with all of the drama, JYJ has managed to have their EP, 'The...' reach the top spot on the Japanese Oricon Charts for a month. Kanye's defined himself as one of the most unique artists to ever exist, and TVXQ has been sweeping all of Asia for some time now. We'd like to convey a well deserved shoutout to these artists (who you would've never expected to be on a track together) for showing us what being creative can result in. 즐기십시오!
One of the hottest rappers out there today, there's nothing stopping Wiz Khalifa. Hits like 'This Plane' and his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers' anthem 'Black & Yellow' are just some examples of how sick and talented he is. Here's a real mellow laid back track by Khalifa that's just way too nice. Watch out for this guy to blow up for his upcoming album due out in 2011. Get psyched!
Here's a fun fact: Wiz Khalifa spent part of his life living on the Yokota Base as a child!!
Noel "Detail" Fisher. That's probably not a name you've heard before but I'm certain you've heard his productions. Detail is one of the more renowned producers in music, as he's produced hits like Ray J's 'Sexy Can I' and Akon's 'Im So Paid'. Detail's moved on to singing himself, and his songs are quite catchy. Here's a song that's been around since August, but still hasn't gotten the recognition yet. This one's got potential, as well as Detail's other songs like 'Krazy', 'Do It Well', and 'Tattoo Foreva'. (I'll put them up soon). Enjoy!
Ever heard of Aaron London? I'm guessing no. This young British singer/songwriter/producer/rapper just might be the next big thing in the UK (and possibly worldwide too). His song 'The Other Side' was on the verge of becoming an international sensation but fell a little short. Anyways here's a track called 'Superman' by the 16 year old London. Enjoy!
Ok, woow. I thought I'd be done with putting FM material up for a while but here's yet another one!! 50 goes to work on this one as there's no original verses by FM, only 50's. Is this a sign of 50 returning to the top?? What do you all think?
La Roux's definitely been one of the driving forces in the electropop genre recently as their most well known track, 'Bulletproof' was a sensation. Here, they've teamed up with KANYE to come up with a sick remix. Kanye was apparently hooked on 'Bulletproof' too like the rest of us, so he called La Roux up to do a track together. A music video is in the talks for this remix so look out for that as well!
After 'This Is Why I'm Hot' Mims has been fairly quiet in terms of hits and I really don't know if he'll ever have another one. Anyways, here's a pretty dope track from him and Young Money member Gudda Gudda.
JRandall is a name you'll hear alot of in the near future. He had a track on the soundtrack of "Step Up 3-D" and he's gaining popularity by the day. He'll kind of remind you of singers like Colby O'Donis and Jay Sean, and funny enough, JRandall's signed to Poe Boy Entertainment, the same label Flo Rida's currently signed too and Rick Ross in the past. So watch out for this guy to have a huge hit (possibly this one) that you guys'll be singing along to very soon!!
Aight so I know I've put up alot of material from FM recently, but based on the number of downloads, I'm guessing you guys are liking them. Well we do too. Anyways, here's there album, "Free Wired" and I'm certain it'll climb the charts. FM brings us a Hip-Hop/Pop/Electro album full of fun and catchy party tracks. I'd label this a party album and it's a must have for everyone. Enjoy!
Here's the 'Like a G6' remix that came out a couple days ago. It's got So So Def Records' man: Jermaine Dupri, former Eminem partner: Obie Trice, and one of my favorite up and coming artists: Swedish rapper Adam Tensta. Enjoy!
Like A G6 (Remix) - Far East Movement feat. Jermaine Dupri, Obie Trice & Adam Tensta
For this week's G.O.O.D. Friday track, Kanye brings us a flat out beast track by CRS, a rap supergroup made up of Ye, Lupe, and Pharrell. An album by CRS was in the talks but there's no set release dat as all three have been busy with their own works.
Catchy upbeat track from Portuguese/Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado. We'll hopefully be seeing more of her since we know her potential from her "Loose" album a couple years ago that straight up blew up.
Here's a dope track from one of the few legit 'gangsta rap' rappers left today: Game. I first got this track back in early June so some of you may know this one already, but it still hasn't been released officially. With Robin Thicke's voice over this beat by Dr. Dre, this one's a must have. Game's "The R.E.D. Album" should drop before the end of the year and it's got some big names featured on it so get ready!
Here's a soon-to-be-monster-hit from America's sweetheart: Taylor Swift. She's established herself as one of the most popular artists in the world and I'm sure some of you saw her at Summer Sonic this past summer. Her album, also titled "Speak Now" drops soon so get ready for the charts to be malled by Taylor's music once again.
Alright so I know I put up "If I Was You" by The Far*East Movement just a few days ago but here's 3 more nice tracks from them. These tracks'll show you just how versatile these AZNs are as they've worked with 3 completely different artists here: Ryan Tedder (Lead Singer of OneRepublic), Mohombi, and Keri Hilson. BE SURE TO CHECK OUT ALL 3 TRACKS AND DOWNLOAD THEM!! Enjoy! and watch out for more dope music from FM in the near future!
Rocketeer (feat. Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic) - Far East Movement
After hits like 'Knock You Down', 'The Way I Are' (Timbaland), and 'Hero' (Nas), Keri Hilson has established herself as one of the most prominent figures in the industry today. Watch out for her sophomore album, 'No Boys Allowed', which consists of this catchy track: Pretty Girl Rock.
Here's one of the tracks off Chiddy Bang's EP 'The Preview' that just dropped today. Chiddy Bang's been one of the hottest acts worldwide recently and there's alot of hype surrounding their debut album 'The Swelly Express' due out in 2011. Shout out to the legendary Q-Tip for working with these rookies and making it a dope track.
NBA 2K11 drops in a couple days and I know we're all excited for the new rosters, the outstanding gameplay, and the nothing but ridiculous G-Moments. Along with all that comes a solid soundtrack and this year, it looks like they've added some great indie music from outside the U.S.. I'll be putting up 2 of my favorite of these not so well known indie tracks that definitely deserve recognition....along with a track that I think deserves a grammy (Just kidding, stick to basketball Ron-Ron)....but at least deserves its video to be seen by all. (Especially the parts where he's going for a ride with his 2 friends)
Aight so believe it or not it's (roughly) been a month since we launched this sight. When we, T-MATS and Vick started out this site, we hoped to raise awareness of some tracks/artists that are flat out dope and will get recognition in the future. Great music goes unheard everyday, so we did our best to give you what we liked the most, while also considering what's 'catchy' and what'll be at the top of the charts. We believe we've done just that so we'd like to THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!!!
BAY AREA TRACKS is only a month old, but thanks to you guys, we're doing very well. We promise we will be providing sick tracks and kicks so please keep supporting us and checking out the material posted often!! If you have a friend or know someone that you know is in to the type of stuff we post, by all means, please let them know! I'm more than certain they'll appreciate what we have.
SO KEEP CHECKING IT, SPREAD THE WORD AND LET ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, NEIGHBORS, PETS, ETC KNOW!!!
--Vick & T-MATS
